Our exciting creative projects & unique training involve people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities in the cultural life of their communities. Since establishment in 1995, as an independent arts organisation and registered charity, Headway has worked creatively with over 30,00 people from all walks of life.

Being an entirely independent organisation means Headway receive no regular or core funding - raising all our own funds through grant applications, donations or sales of our professional services. In the last 15 years we have raised in excess of £2million - all spent on cultural development projects.

The arts are an effective tool for personal development, motivation and individual expression, a potent catalyst for social change & community cohesion. Headway’s work is at the forefront cultural development.
Headway aims to develop a brand new arts resource for Northumberland. Currently in feasibility stage - Headway proposes to create a purpose built studio workshop. This will act as a headquarters for the company, provide a fully accessible new home for Seven Stars - Northumberland’s Learning Disabled Theatre Co. and Random Headway’s Young People’s Theatre co.
It will also offer a state of the art landmark building and creative resource to the wider community. With a programme of workshops, projects and participatory arts events, this resource will help hothouse new projects. It will also inspire & support young and emerging artists.
