Headway's Arty Clarty Workshop Programme

Headway Arts have a very wide range of skills across art forms within the core team and in our pool of visiting artists.

We offer a programme of drop-in family friendly workshops, storytelling or entertainments tailored & themed to an event. Popular workshops are:

Open All  Close All

The Historically Inaccurate Vikings
Horned marauders from the North arrive to recruit as many members as possible to their merry hoard with songs, costumery and boat building!

Shivva Me Timbers Pirate Adventures
Captain Scallywag's dodgey pirate crew guide interactive pirate pranks, storytelling, monster mashing and making mahem.
As seen at Amble Sea Fayre Festival, Amble Dev Trust.
Things with Wings
Environmental art workshops making giant puppets and tiny models from natural and found materials - based on nature and magic and the great outdoors. As seen at Sunderland International Kite Festival.
Headgear
Magnificent milnery, marvellous madhattery workshops creating festival hats and crazy costume on a chosen theme or hot from the imagination.
As seen at Glastonbury International Festival of the Performing Arts.
Illuminators
A workshop to light up the dark nights creating beautiful willow lanterns, illuminated sculptures and shadow screens.
As seen at Blyth in a New Light, Northumberland Lights Festival.
Playmakers
Drama games, devising, storymaking and the production of a presentation based on a chosen theme or direct from the imagination of the group.

We can also provide our own Arty Clarty Tent for an additional fee.

Monster Makers

Monster Makers and Shadow Stories

As the nights draw in Headway Arts offer two exciting workshops suitable for all ages.

In Monster Makers create your own creature and bring it to life as a giant puppet and perform its creepy story.

In Shadow Stories make puppets and tell tales using this ancient form of theatre.

Sessions are designed to promote creativity through taking part in the arts, and are ideal for family events and young people's groups.

Creative Sessions 2011

Our Creative Sessions are inspiring arts workshops especially designed to offer groups:

* Time out to be creative

* A chance to develop new interests

* A safe supportive environment

* New ways of working

A programme of 10 sessions is £2,500 - inclusive of artists fees, insurances, planning & preparation, materials, equipment & travel.

Sessions are designed to promote well-being through taking part in the arts.

We are happy to offer a flexible programme to suit your needs. Please get in touch.

Booking Info

Workshop fees begin at £525 for a full day event or can be booked over a longer period as a residency.
The longer you book us for the cheaper we get!

Inclusive of Headway's Arty Clarty Crew, materials and travel (under one hundred miles - after that travel is charged at 40p per mile. A maximum charge is negotiable.)

We are happy to discuss the needs of your group & your budget.

Prices are based on industry standards. We are a not-for-profit organisation. All funds raised this way go back into the charity to fund other project work.

The booking process works like this:
1a. Choose from our programme of prepared workshops, which we will tailor to suit the needs of your group/s or event/s.

or

1b. Contact us to discuss your requirements and we will tailor a workshop to suit your budget.

or

1c. If you're looking for something else or feeling experimental - get in touch - we love a chance to be innovative and we'd be delighted to work with you to devise something unique.

2. Once we're all agreed we will then send a booking form for you to check, fill in any necessary detail and then return to us. This will act as our project agreement and will include all specifications for a smooth and happy workshop.

All Headway Arts artists are fully trained with excellent experience of working with the general public.

All of our artists are Enhanced CRB checked.

We have public liability insurance.
